Italy: Lube prevail without difficulties over Verona, Modena record 5th straight-set victory in a row

Cucine Lube Civitanova collected a straight sets victory without story in an away match of Round 5 of the 2019/20 SuperLega Credem Banca regular season against Calzedonia Verona. They faced true resistance of the rivals only in the first set before collecting a maximum of three points at the end of, what was supposed to be, an intense match of Round 5: 3-0 (22:25, 16:25, 19:25). Osmany Juantoreana was the top scorer with 20 points, while for Verona, who underperformed in the attack as a team (40%), American Garrett Muagututia made 10 points. Lube are at the top of the standings with 18 points and a 6-0 score.
Leo Shoes Modena continued their winning ride and recorded the 5th straight-set victory in as many games. At home, they defeated Top Volley Latina, only having to work hard in the third set: 3-0 (25:22, 25:14, 28:26). American Matthew Anderson was the top scorer for the winning side with 15 points including 4 aces, while the Pole Bartosz Bednorz made 81% reception (16 digs, 63% perfect). The Dutchman Maarten van Garderen scored 12 points for Latina.
One more team kept the unbeaten record: it is Itas Trentino, who are at 5-0 after they outplayed newcomers Gas Sales Piacenza in four sets. However, the duel between these two teams is a SuperLega classic, knowing that they faced each other for the title on three occasions in the 2000s. Luca Vettori was Trentino’s top scorer and MVP of the match with 21 points. Dick Kooy scored 14 points for Piacenza.
