Italy: Lube Civitanova trample over Modena in big match of Round 6, veteran Alessandro Fei sets a new SuperLega record!

Cucine Lube Civitanova trampled over Leo Shoes Modena in the big match of Round 6 of the SuperLega Credem Banca regular season, recording their seventh success in as many games: 3-0 (25:19, 25:20, 25:20). Even though they were deprived of the help from Osmany Juantorena due to the adductor muscle strain and facing the team that didn’t concede a single set from the start of the season, Lube Civitanova redeemed to their fans for losing the recent Super Cup semifinals to the same rivals and isolated themselves in the standings with a 7-0 score and 21 points. The naturalized Brazilian Yoandy Leal was the top scorer for the winners with 15 points, which was as much as Ivan Zaytsev scored on the other side of the net.
Sir Safety Conad Perugia destroyed Tonno Callipo Calabria Vibo Valentia without difficulties, leaving the rivals in the last place in the standings: 3-0 (25:17, 25:17, 25:17). Perugia head coach Vital Heynen has chosen to give a rest to the starting opposite, Serbian Aleksandar Atanasijević, while he won’t be able to count on the middle blocker Fabio Ricci for a long time due to injury. Poland National Team member Wilfredo León scored 19 points, including 6 aces, for the winning side while American Torey DeFalco scored 11 points for Vibo Valentia.
The match between the home side of Gas Sales Piacenza and Vero Volley Monza was marked by a new record of italian SuperLega: Piacenza’s veteran Alessandro Fei became the best-ever scorer of the competition! At one moment in the fourth set, the opposite hitter put down point No. 9,689 of his career and overtook the overall SuperLega top-scorer crown from Hristo Zlatanov. In this match, Piacenza beat Monza in four sets with Dick Kooy scoring 20 points.
On the other matches of Round 6, Verona and Ravenna won away vs. Padova and Latina respectively, while Trentino won in four sets on Milano’s field (photogallery of the match).
