#RoadToTokyo: Ghana didn’t show up at tournament and lose to Tunisia by forfeit, Egypt win vs. Algeria

1 min read

The start of the 2019 Africans Volleyball Olympic Qualifier in Cairo, Egypt, has started unpleasantly: even though 7 teams have confirmed their participation in the competition in Cairo, Egypt (Algeria, Botswana, Cameroon, Egypt, Ghana, Tunisia, and Niger), only 5 of them are actually registered for the tournament. Out of these 5 teams, one didn’t show up, Ghana. As a result, they lost the match against the continental champions Tunisia by a forfeit.
In the other match of an opening day, the hosts beat Algeria in 4 sets.
