#RoadToTokyo: Tunisia take away Egypt’s chance of going to Olympic Games

1 min read

The Tunisia Volleyball National Team has taken a big step towards qualifying for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
Led by Elyes Karamosli (16 points), they beat fierce rivals and also the hosts Egypt (23 points of Ahmed Abdelhay “Salah“) in the match valid for the 3rd round of the 2020 African Olympic Qualification Tournament in Cairo: 3-0 (29:27, 25:14, 25:23).
As a result, the continental champions need to take only one set in the last round against Algeria in order to secure a ticket for Tokyo. As for Egypt, their chances of going to the Olympics have vanished with the defeat today. Algeria, on the other hand, still can hope of acquiring the ticket for the Olympics but must sweep Tunisia in the last round.

2020 African Volleyball Olympic Qualifier – Round 3

Cameroon – Algeria 0-3 (16:25, 16:25, 17:25)
Egypt – Tunisia 0-3 (27:29, 14:25, 23;25)
