France: Tours, Montpellier (comeback in Paris) and Chaumont in pursuit of Rennes, Nantes, Ajaccio and Toulouse ok.

2 min read

After Tuesday’s advance, in which Rennes defeated Cannes away in four sets, the other matches of Round 14 (Round 1 of second-leg) were played last night. Behind the leaders Rennes, all the more direct pursuers win. After losing the first set, Tours wins 3-1 in Tourcoing (without the setter Pedro Rangel), despite the bad evening of Egleskalns, but with an excellent performance by the outside hitters Bartos and Wounembaina, authors of 17 points each, and Teryomenko (15 points, including 5 kill blocks and 4 aces).
Montpellier, on the other hand, recovered from a 2-0 disadvantage in Paris, despite the Canadian Sclater remaining at rest. Decisive for the turnaround the entry of Panou in place of McCarthy, and a change of pace from the service line. Curious, the Montpellier’s setter Gonzalez scored 11 points! All easy instead for Chaumont who destroys Nice in straight sets, with the Belgian opposite Cox remained on the bench.
As for the other games, with 27 points from Michalovic, Nantes wins in four sets against Sete, to whom Geiler’s decent debut is not enough. Ajaccio also won in straight sets against Narbonne, who gives 32 point-errors, and Toulouse with the same result, who, even without Jorna, wins against a Poitiers penalized by the negative performance of Neves Atu (-17% efficiency in attack).
