After Friday’s advance, in which Ajaccio defeated Nice away in four sets, the French Ligue A Round 15 was completed yesterday evening.
In the big match of the Round between reigning champion Tours and the leaders of Rennes, won Tours in four sets. As a result, the team coached by Henno has halved the gap in the standings, and is now in second place, just -3 points. In the challenge between the two left-handed opposites, Egleskalns wins with 19 points, 46% in attack, 4 winning blocks and 2 aces, against 19 points, 38% in attack, 2 winning blocks and 2 aces by Rennes’ Rafael Araujo.
Montpellier consolidate 3rd place, with Sclater returned regularly in sextet (22 points and 67% in attack). They win in four sets also in Narbonne, despite 20 points (including 7 winning blocks) of the 23 year old Senegalese middle-blocker Gueye, probably one of the revelation players of the season, since he is in the first year as a starting player in Ligue A.
Chaumont remains fourth in the standings, but for Prandi’s team it was definitely a bad night in attack (31% and 10% efficiency), and suffered a clear 3-0 on the Nantes field.
Poitiers also wins at home: they destroy Paris in straight sets (without Fukuzawa).
The picture is closed with 1-3 between Toulouse (without Jorna) and Tourcoing which finds again the setter Pedro Rangel and the 3-1 of Sète vs. Cannes, thanks also to the 16 points of the last purchase Geiler, from Chaumont.
