Bulgaria: Yosifov and Salparov say goodbye to national team. Prandi leaves post as head coach.
The 2 mainstars of the Bulgaria National Team, captain Viktor Yosifov (34) and the libero Teodor Salparov (37), have retired from international volleyball. Both decided to no longer play for their National Team, after European Olympic Qualifier in Berlin.
The two were among the most deserved player for the successes of the country’s volleyball in the last decade embodied in several medals from major competitions.
In addition, Silvano Prandi said in an interview for sportal.bg that he’ll no longer be at the helm of the Bulgaria m Volleyball National Team.
“The Bulgarian Federation needs a coach to work for the next Olympic cycle, which is for 5 seasons, until the Paris Games in 2024. I won’t be free for such a long time. I have to think about the club career and the future. Five years is too long for me but never say never,” the Italian expert stated, and left the room to tie himself to the Bulgaria National Team again in the near future.
This was his 2nd mandate on the bench of Bulgaria, as he already coached them from 2008 to 2010.
