Italy: Modena prevail in the classic-big match vs. Lube, Perugia record 18th win in a row and become leaders!

3 min read

Leo Shoes Modena prevailed in the super-classic big match of the Italian Volleyball Championship, valid for Round 19, against Cucine Lube Civitanova: 3-1 (17:25, 25:19, 25:18, 25:21).
In front of 5,000 home fans, Modena inflicted the 2nd defeat to the leaders Lube in the 2019/20 SuperLega Credem Banca regular season, staying 3rd placed but shortening the distance in relation to them to only 2 points. The Pole Bartosz Bednorz was the top scorer for the winners with 17 points, while the international from Luxembourg Kamil Rykhlicki scored 20 points for Lube, who couldn’t count on the help of Cuban-Brazilian Yoandy Leal who is recovering from injury.

Sir Safety Conad Perugia suffered a lot on the road against Tonno Callipo Calabria Vibo Valentia but managed to sign the 13th successive win in Superlega, but the 18th successive counting all competitions! Thus, the team coached by Vital Heynen took over the lead from Lube who claimed it, practically, from the beginning of the regular season, tying with them at 45 points but having one more match played.
Itas Trentino downed again (after Italian Cup quarterfinals) direct contenders for the 4th place in the charts, Allianz Milano, by a 3-1 and went 6 points ahead of them.
Close the picture the clear victory away of Padova vs. Verona, and Ravenna who wins again at home: after Monza in the previous Round, they down also Cisterna, with Ter Horst (20 points) mvp again!
