LEGAVOLLEY - Presntazione calendari 2019/2020
The 2020/21 season of the Italian Volleyball Championship might have a very curious start.
Due to coronavirus pandemic, the 2019/20 Italian Championship was ended prematurely, same as most of the competitions in the world. Although authorities in the country instructed mild relaxation of measures regarding the control of the spread of the virus, the season will not resume.
Thus, the organization of the men’s league, LegaVolley, started to work on the best way to set off the next season given the chances are big that the matches will be played without spectators, at least in the beginning, like in France. One of the scenarios is to open the 2020/21 season with the tournament to be held outdoors.
“We’re imagining a recovery of the season with the Super Cup played at the Arena di Verona (Roman amphitheater); in that case, even behind closed doors is fine because the scenery would be fantastic and would be appealing for television, too. As early as July, if possible, we’d like to resume organizing some events around Italy, in order to return volleyball to people,” the CEO of LegaVolley, Massimo Righi, stated.
