Iran National Team duo return to play in home country!
The Iranian volleyball championship runners-up Saipa Alborz have hired the country’s national team duo.
According to Iranian local sources, middle-blocker Seyed Mousavi and opposite Amir Ghafour, who have been considered stars of the Iran National Team in the recent few years, arrived at Saipa, the club that finished second in the last season of the Super League.
Both players decided to return to play in their home country due to the economic situation that hit European leagues and clubs. Mousavi came from Poland’s Indykpol AZS Olsztyn, while Ghafour spent the last season in Italy’s Cucine Lube Civitanova.
Prior to these two, Saipa hired two more Iran members: the libero Mohammadreza Moazzen, from Paykan Tehran, and middle blocker Ali Shafiei, from Shahrdari Urmia.
Saipa will also have the new head coach, Mostafa Karkhaneh. The last club which he commanded was Sarmayeh Bank (2016/17).
