Poland: on 20th anniversary, PlusLiga chooses Dream Team, MVP, and best head coach…
Mariusz Wlazły was chosen the best player in the 20-year history of the Polish volleyball league (Polska Liga Siatkówki), also known as PlusLiga, while Andrea Anastasi was voted the best head coach.
On the 20th anniversary, the Polish volleyball league organized the voting for fans on its website with a goal to pick the best team of the competition.
Five players competed for each position and fans were asked to choose two setters, two opposites, two liberos, four outside hitters, and four middle blockers. Moreover, they had to choose the MVP out of those candidates, as well as the best head coach.
The most votes for the best player (44 %) were given to Mariusz Wlazły, a long-time player of PGE Skra Bełchatów.
Of course, he was also awarded the best opposite hitter (85%) in the last 20 years of the league.
The best setter was Paweł Zagumny, the best libero was Paweł Zatorski, the best middle blocker was Piotr Nowakowski, and the best outside hitter was Michał Winiarski. And the 36% of the fans who took part in the poll have chosen Andrea Anastasi as a head coach for the Dream Team.
