Russian Cup: Winning debut for Novosibirsk, Kazan, Kemerovo, Fakel, Ufa and Dinamo Moscow
The two players whose transfers to Russia made a bomb in the world volleyball market, Zaytsev and Bednorz, made notable debuts at the opening of the country’s cup.
The opening of the preliminary round, i.e. pool stage, of the 2020 Russian Cup, official name Kubok Rossii, didn’t bring any unexpected outcomes.
Ivan Zaytsev was the most productive player with 21 points for Kuzbass Kemerovo, that win in four sets, partially 23:25, 25:17, 25:18, 25:21, against Enisey.
Bartosz Bednorz scored 13 points for Zenit Kazan, who prevailed over ASK with the same result. The Pole wasn’t the best scorer of his side, it was Andrey Surmachevskiy, author of 14 points.
In big match in the first round, Fakel Novi Urengoy swept Zenit Saint-Petersburg in straight sets (25:20, 28:26, 25:19). The first two teams at the end of the pool stage in each of the zones will qualify for the Final Six as the next stage of the competition.
