Italian Cup: great victories for Monza and Milano, Cisterna upset Piacenza, Padova wins the battle in Ravenna

Today, Sunday 13 September 2020, the official volleyball matches are finally back in Italy.
In addition to the supercup semifinals, in which Itas Trentino will face Lube Civitanova and Sir Safety Conad Perugia will play against Leo Shoes Modena, the Italian cup will also begin.
The eight teams involved in the first round, scheduled today, are divided into two groups with a single match. The first two of each Pool will qualify to the quarterfinals to face the already qualified Leo Shoes Modena, Sir Safety Conad Perugia, Cucine Lube Civitanova and Itas Trentino.

In first match of Pool A, Vero Volley Monza destroys Tonno Callipo Calabria Vibo Valentia in straight sets, partially 25:18, 25:19, 25:19. In a one-way match, turkish opposite Lagumdzija led his team with 16 points, while Holt also contributed with 13 points and 5 kill blocks. Rossard was the only player who reach a double digit performance for Vibo Valentia (13 points).
On the same Pool, another straight sets victory: Milano beats Verona with a clear 3-0 and a very good team performance. Maar was the top scorer for the winners with 14 points, followed by Ishikawa with 11, MVP of the match, and Kozamernik and Patry who scored 10 points each. In POOL B, Cisterna upset Piacenza with a four-sets-victory away, while Padova, away too, won a never ending battle in Ravenna.
