Russia: Kemerovo beats St. Petersburg in big match of Round 1. All easy for Dinamo Moscow

The Russian Super League started today, and a big match was immediately played: Zenit St. Petersburg (which resumed training last Monday after the coronavirus outbreak that had interrupted its activities during the preliminaries of the Russian Cup), was defeated in four sets at home by Kuzbass Kemerovo. Italian superstar Zaytsev was the top scorer of the match with 23 points and 51% in attack. Among the guests, worthy of mention was the performance of the middle-blocker Shcherbakov (67% in attack, 3 winning blocks and 3 aces), and the young outside-hitter Pakshin (12 points, 59% in attack and 2 winning blocks), who replaced Sivozhelez in the 2nd set. Among the hosts, bad day for Kliuka (4 points with 25% in attack) and Poletaev (35% in attack), and the 22 points of the very good Camejo were not enough. In today’s other game, easy straight sets victory for Dinamo Moscow over modest Neftyanik Orenburg.
