A surreal final for Coupe de France?
The 2020 French Cup could have a surreal epilogue. Postponed from March 2020 to 26/27 September on the eve of the competition, there have been cases of Covid-19 in Paris Volley and subsequently also in Spacer’s Toulouse, the organizing club of the event. Then Tours, worried about their team, reacts by withdrawing.
The Central Commission of the French Federation, which met yesterday, Tuesday 29 September, decides to assign the title to the Stade Poitevin Volley Beach, fourth team of the Final Four, without having played a single game in the tournament.
But that’s not all…the president of the club from Poitiers, Claude Berrard, expresses the possibility that his club will reject the trophy with a forfait. The decision will be made today by the club’s board of directors at the end of a board meeting. Tours, fined €7.500, shall have recourse….
