Russia: Majestic display of Bednorz pushes Zenit-Kazan to Super Cup title, Kuzbass win again

Yesterday Zenit-Kazan put the eighth Russian volleyball Super Cup in their collection!
They beat the reigning champions Lokomotiv Novosibirsk on the road in Round 2 of the 2020/21 of Russian championship, which was also a battle for the 2020 Super Cup, after a tie-break – partially 25:18, 22:25, 25:23, 23:25, and 15:9.
Including the last season, these teams played the third consecutive five-setter, while the Kazan side prevailed in mutual encounters with the club from Novosibirsk for the 18th time in a row. This was the second win in as many matches of the team coached by Vladimir Alekno in the 2020/21 Superliga Parimatch regular season to which it was led by an excellent Bartosz Bednorz: the Pole made a majestic display of 27 points, including 8 aces and 5 winning blocks! Serbian Dražen Luburić top-scored Lokomotiv with 24 points, while Dmitriy Shcherbinin made 7 winning blocks.
Kuzbass also reached 2-0 in the league, while Zenit Saint-Petersburg noted their first victory in the season.
