Champions League: Maaseik fail to convert total of 8 match balls – Shakhtior victorious!

Shakhtior Soligorsk stunned VC Greenyard Maaseik on Day 2 of the 2021 CEV Volleyball Champions League qualifications (1st Round).
Belarusian side Shakhtior inflicted a painful defeat to Maaseik who failed to convert three match balls at 24:21 in the fourth set and four match balls in the tie-break. Instead, Shakhtior redeemed for a defeat to the home side of Lindaren Volley Amriswil from Switzerland on first match. Andrei Radziuk scored 24 points for Shakhtior while Argentine Jan Martínez scored 21 points (reception 75 %, 60 % excellent) for Maaseik. Elias Thys made 4 blocks.
All three teams have hopes of claiming the spot No.1, which awards progression to the next stage, in the pool prior to the Amriswil – Maaseik encounter on the last day.
