FIVB reveals qualification formula for next World Championship

The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) revealed the qualification system for the next edition of the World Championship for both men’s (hosted by Russia) and women’s (co-hosted by The Netherlands and Poland).
The number of teams per gender that will qualify for the tournament is 24. The host country team and current world champions – Poland (men) and Serbia (women) – have earned automatic tickets. Each of the continental championships in 2021 will send additional two teams (counting only those not yet qualified) per gender.
Should host country teams or the current world champions secure one of the top two spots at continental championships, teams that are next highest-ranked in these tournaments will secure places for the World Championship. The remaining 12 (men) or 11 teams (women) will qualify as per their position in the FIVB World Ranking for Senior National Teams that will be unveiled at the end of the 2021 international season.
