Italy: Vibo find another victim from the big, Trentino come back from 0-2 against Verona. Three points for Padova and Perugia

3 min read

Tonno Callipo Calabria Vibo Valentia upset another member of the big of the Italian Volleyball Championship! After Cucine Lube Civitanova and Itas Trentino, also Leo Shoes Modena has fallen to the team from Calabria region, in Southern Italy. So, only Sir Safety Conad Perugia managed to dodge the bullet this season.
In Round 13, the team coached by Valerio Baldovin swept Modena in straight sets, and remained third-placed in the standings. The Frenchman Thibault Rossard, MVP of the match, led the winners with 15 points. (Look at photogallery of the match).

On the other matches that completed the Round, Sir Safety Conad Perugia, with 15 points by Serbian Aleksandar Atanasijević and 5 winning blocks by Fabio Ricci have returned to the top of the standings as they earned three points against Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza. It was their fourth successive victory.
Itas Trentino came back from two sets down against NBV Verona, and the Dutchman Nimir Abdel-Aziz has returned to the opposite position after several games in which he stepped up to replace Simone Giannelli as a setter. The latter is Covid-19 free, which gave room to Abdel-Aziz to start pouring points again. And in fact, he scored 23 points, including 4 aces, the same as Brazilian Ricardo Lucarelli (with 4 blocks), today, while Serbian Marko Podraščanin made 79% attack (15/19).
Close the picture the 3-1 home win of Padova (with 22 points by Stern) over Cisterna, that remains at the bottom of the charts.
