Austria: in weekend matches, straight sets wins for Sokol and Ried, Aich/Dob starts perfectly the top round

In a match played on Saturday, TJ Sokol Vienna V prevailed over VBK Wörther-See-Löwen Klagenfurt 3-0 (25:23, 25:21, 28:26). For Sokol it was already the third win over the same rivals this season, but the first away. The top scorer of the match was Simon Frühbauer with 19 points, while Clemens Ecker put down 15 for the winners.
In the only Sunday match in DenizBank AG VL basic round phase 2 UVC Weberzeile Ried destroys VBC TLC Weiz away. The guests prevailed with a clear 3-0 (25:20, 25:17, 25:16) and celebrated their first victory in the third duel of the season with the Styrians (LOOK AT PHOTOGALLERY OF THE MATCH). Like table leader TJ Sokol Wien V, Ried now holds 26 points, but has played one game less (13). Topscorers in Weiz were Niklas Stooß and Tomasz Rutecki with 14 and 13 points, respectively while among the hosts no player had a double digit and, in addition, they suffered 10 aces (against their only 2).
Next Saturday, the team of head coach Dominik Kefer will receive TSV Raiffeisen Hartberg in the last match of 2020, so they will have the chance to go into the Christmas break as championship leaders.

In the other Sunday match, SK Zadruga Aich/Dob started with a clear success in top round of the competition, defeating VCA Amstetten NÖ in their JUFA-Arena Bleiburg by 3-0 (25:14, 25:19, 25:21) in just 65 minutes. Amstetten had qualified as the winner of the first phase of the basic round for the top round, and for the title contenders from Carinthia the game was only the first in the DenizBank AG Volley League!
The top scorers was Maximilian Landfahrer (14), Konrad Formela and Lukas Kühl (10 each) for the winners, while Eduardo Romay scored 15 for the guests. With 27 to 13, Amstetten committed significantly more errors.
