4 min read

Italian Superlega Credem Banca Round 18 was completed today without postponements.
Another defeat for Top Volley Cisterna (without Seganov, with bulgarian national team), this time against NBV Verona. The hosts were unable to take advantage of the absence of the starting setter Spirito (muscle problem), replaced by Peslac, and suffered a clear 0-3 defeats. Lot of errors, despite the very good performance of the German middle-blocker Krick author of 16 points and 94% in attack, absolutely the bast among the hosts, while Jensen scored 17 points with 45% in attack for the winners. For Cisterna, this is the twelfth consecutive defeat, while for the team coached by bulgarian expert Stoytchev, the third success in a row.

Great battle between Itas Trentino and Vero Volley Monza, the only two teams unbeaten in the second-leg, and in a streak of 11 and 7 games respectively. The heavy absences of Kooy (for Trento) and Lagumdzija (for Monza) did not compromise the show on the field, in a very balanced match lasted five sets closed by Abdel-Aziz’s final block on Dzavoronok (who played as the opposite). Trento continues its winning streak which has now reached 12 games (9 of these in the league). At the end of the match, the statistics reward the winners from the service line (9-4), on the block (10-8) and in reception, despite they made 10 more errors (40-30).
MVP of the match is Lucarelli who closes the game with 21 points (63% in attack and 2 blocks), while Abdel-Aziz scored 24 points. He struggled in attack (41%), but he made 3 aces and 4 blocks, while Serbian Marko Podraščanin set up 5 blocks. The top scorer for Monza was Dzavoronok with 18 points (47%, 1 ace and 2 blocks, but 4 aces suffered), followed by Davyskiba with 13 (52% and 1 block).
Very disappointing Lanza in attack with only 9 points and 27%, but also in reception (11% and 3 aces suffered). The 2 points earned this evening strengthened the third place in the standings of Trentino.

No problem for Perugia, who wins as expected in straight sets on the field of Ravenna, despite the absences of Atanasijevic and Russo. The winners thus earn a point over the direct rivals Civitanova and Trento, with a superb performance by the Ukrainian Oleh Plotnytskyi, deservedly named MVP of the match with 17 points (with 2 aces and a block) and 61% in attack. One point more than Leon (16 and 52%).

As for Civitanova, today they played on the field of Milano. One step away from stage a upset, the hosts suffered a defeat at the tie break in what was the first home game of 2021. 2-3 the final result, with Milano with one more point in the standings, even if this is the third consecutive defeat and despite an amazing performance in attack with Ishikawa (25 points and 85% in attack!), Urnaut and Maar who added 20 and 19 points respectively.
Rychlicki was the top scorer of the winners with 23 points and 56% in attack, followed by Juantorena and Leal (who served 4 aces) with 19 each, while Anzani made 4 blocks. Although the match was balanced, Civitanova made the difference from the service line, scoring 12 aces (against 4 for rivals). Thus, Lube achieved the 4th victory in a row, the 3rd in as many games played in the new year, keeping the touch (lag 5 points) with the leaders of the league, Sir Safety Conad Perugia.
