#Eurovolley2021: Turkey victorious against Bosnia, Austria sweep Pool B hosts Israel

Turkey opens their qualifying campaign in Pool C with a clear 3-0 victory over the team of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The winners were better in all the components, scoring 12 aces in three sets! Burutay Subasi was the most prolific players with 19 points for Turkey, including 6 aces, while Adis Lagumdzija also contributed with 13.
Adi Osmanovic made 8 points on the other side of the net.
“First of all, I would like to congratulate Turkey for the win. They showed that they are the better team. They played really good in reception and on the serve. Also they have Adis Lagumdzija who is born in Bosnia and Herzegovina, he is a world class player“, said Almir Colo of Bosnia&Herzegovina.
On Wednesday, Turkey will face North Macedonia, while Bosnia&Herzegovina have the day off.
Apart from Pool C, the competition started in one more pool, in Pool B in Hadera, Israel.
Mostly thanks to Alexander Berger (15 points) and Florian Georg Ringseis (89 % reception; 18 digs, 56 % excellent) Austria downed hosts in straight sets on Day 1. Tamir Hershko from Israel made 17 on the other side of the net.
Both Israel and Austria started good in the match, with equal performance on attack.
On Wednesday, Austria meet pool favourites of Bulgaria at 19.00 local time.
