France: In the advances of Round 17, Poitiers stun the leader Montpellier at tie break, and easy victory for Tourcoing

1 min read

The first 2 matches of Round 17 of French Ligue A were played today. After 14 victories in a row (plus 3 in the CEV Cup, for a total of 17) the winning streak in Montpellier came to an end. It was Poitiers that defeated the leaders, mostly thanks to the Brazilian bomber Chizoba Neves Atu, MVP of the match with 30 points, 47% in attack and 2 blocks. The guests regret the 5 set points wasted in the 2nd set (2 consecutive at 22:24 with Sclater was blocked on the possible 23:25), which would have brought the game to 0-2.
In the other match Tourcoing easily won 3-0 on the field of the last placed Ajaccio (without Kolev, on the bench, and with the debut for the new opposite Overbeeke), despite the oversight of coach Paes who, in the first set, was wrong the line-up delivered to the referees by inverting the positions of Baroti and Palonsky. MVP of the match the Argentine setter Matias Sanchez.
