Brazil: Minas – Campinas 3-2 in big match of Round 16. Wins also for Funvic, Monte Claros and Uberlandia

2 min read

Four Superliga matches valid for Round 16 were played in the European night.
The big match between the two third-place aspirants Minas and Campinas was an amazing and very balanced challenge, lasting over two and a half hours, and therefore ended after local midnight. After 5 sets, all finished with the minimum gap, Minas celebrated, after Renata Campinas in the tie-break had reached a step away from success, rising from 10: 8 to 11:13 (with a defense that became a point of Michel Saraiva). The Cuban Escobar (author of an amazing performance with 37 points with 66% in attack, 1 block and 3 aces) did not give up, however, first signing the counterattack of 13:13 and then canceling the host match point: 14:14. Finally, the game was decided by Pinta’s block on Vaccari (15:14) and Vissotto’s attack on the net (17:15), in any case author of 29 points with 61% in attack.
After the coronavirus outbreak, Funvic Taubaté is back on the field, albeit in a decidedly reworked formation: Rapha, Gabi Candido, Lucas Saatkamp, Riad Ribeiro and Thales Hoss are still absent and Felipe Roque on the bench. Joao Rafael opposite, Mauricio Borges libero, Joao Franck outside-hitter and Bruno Biella middle-blocker played. However, they didn’t have much difficulty to win 3-0 against last-placed Ribeirao Preto. Close the picture 1-3 between Caramuru and Uberlandia and 0-3, albeit with all sets finished with the slightest difference in points, between Guarulhos and Montes Claros.
