Russia: Dinamo Moscow defeat Zenit St. Petersburg third time this season and second time in 2 days!

1 min read

Even though they are among the major title contenders in the 2020/21 Russian Superliga Parimatch, Dinamo Moscow beat Zenit Saint Petersburg for the 3rd time in as many head-to-head encounters this season!
In the current season of the competition, duels between the two same teams for two days in a row have become quite a common occurrence due to a large number of postponed matches and the desire of the teams to optimize the schedule. Dinamo Moscow and Zenit Saint Petersburg are among those pairs.
Thus, in a delayed match of the 8th round, the team from the countryā€™s capital swept rivals in straight sets (25:22, 25:21, 25:16) and firmed themselves in first place in the standings with 4 points more than the closest followers Kuzbass Kemerovo, having played 2 matches less. It was Dinamoā€™s 3rd win against the Saint Petersburg (remained 4th placed) side this season, the 2nd in 2 days to which they were led by Bulgarian Tsvetan Sokolov, author of 22 points, and Pavel Pankov, who served 5 aces.
