In a super-exciting 1st leg of the 2021 CEV Volleyball Challenge Cup final, Allianz Powervolley Milano downed Ziraat Bankası SK Ankara after a battle lasted five sets.
The SuperLega side beat the club from the Turkish capital by a 3-2 (22:25, 25:19, 18:25, 25:18, 15:9) on their home soil and came back twice in the match to celebrate the victory in the end, but will need to win again in Ankara next week to avoid Golden Set (and complications!).
Ziraat’s Dutch opposite Wouter Ter Maat scored as many as eight of his 10 spike attempts only
in first set, and topped the scorers chart of the match with an impressive total of 27 points. His teammate Martin Atanasov added another 17, while Jean Patry led the scorers on the winning side with 15 points and Jan Kozamernik excelled with five aces.
The return game is scheduled on March 24, at 18:00 local time at the Baskent sports hall in Ankara.
