France: Nantes celebrates salvation, Ajaccio relegated. Montpellier, Cannes and Cambrai ok
2 min read
Four more matches were played yesterday, valid for Round 25, the penultimate of the French Ligue A.
The match between Nantes and Ajaccio was very important: the 3-1 success of the home team (MVP the Spanish middle-blocker Borja Ruiz with 13 points, 80% in attack and 5 blocks) is worth the salvation thanks also to an amazing performance from the line service with 11 aces, while the Corsican formation relegated, despite the 22 points by Overbeeke.

On the other hand, the verdict for the last team qualified for playoffs has been postponed: Poitiers returns from the away game in Cannes without points and remains only +2 on Séte. However, the last Round will still offer a very affordable challenge against the already saved Nice. In this challenge, Williams was named MVP of the match with 19 points and 63% in attack. Great performance also by the setter Gelinski, who avoided the opposing block for all his attackers: only 1 winning blocks for Poitiers (12 for Cannes).
After 4 consecutive defeats, Cambrai returns to victory and they did it in a sensational way by coming back from 0-2 against Chaumont, thanks above all to the entries of the second lines Villard, Pire and Pepin (the last two practically never fielded this season).
The easy 3-0 of Montpellier (already mathematically first in the standings) over Toulouse (already out of the playoffs) closes the picture.
