Turkish Cup: Arkas defeats Galatasaray at tie break in first match of quarterfinals

1 min read

In the first of the 2 big-matches of quarterfinals of Turkish Cup (tomorrow’s match between Fenerbahce-Ziraat seems almost an anticipated final) Arkas Izmir (without Gungor and with Matic out after a few points) defeated Galatasaray 3-2 after being behind 0-2 and also 8:13 and 20:22 in the third set. In any case, the guests were penalized by the coronavirus (the starters Keskin, Ulu and Mert were absent) and still with Subasi practically out (only a few exchanges for him).
From the third set the changes of Glenn Hoag work, as head coach put Winkelmuller on the bench, moves Mandiraci opposite and inserts as outside hitter the 2001 class Mirza Lagumdzija (younger brother of the opposite of italian side Vero Volley Monza, who today claims a historic semifinals’ ticket in Superlega).
