It’s time for saying good bye: Alexander Butko and Zenit Kazan won’t sign a new deal for the season 2021/2022.
“We thank Alexander for his conscientious work and a huge contribution to the success of the team. We wish you success in your future career! Thanks for everything, captain!” Is the message wrote by Russian club.
Butko strengthened Zenit’s roster in February 2016 and helped the team win the Russian Championship and the Champions League in the same season. In 2017, the setter was chosen as the team captain and while being a leader he was the first to lift more than ten trophies above his head.
Together with Zenit, he won the Champions League and the Russian Championship three times, the Russian Cup and the Russian Super Cup four times, as well as the 2017 World Club Championship.
In total, he played 242 matches for Zenit-Kazan.
