Italy: A super León puts down 38 and Perugia tie final series against Lube! Semifinals for 5th place defined.

Sir Safety Conad Perugia tied the playoff finals of the 2020/21 Italian SuperLega Credem Banca against Cucine Lube Civitanova at 1-1.
In the aftermath of a sudden departure of Belgian head coach Vital Heynen from their bench, the regular season winners Perugia managed to earn a 5-set victory against no.2 Lube in the 2nd match of the Scudetto fight. Partially, it was 21:25, 25:21, 27:25, 23:25, and 15:12.
In a game full of continuous reversals, the guests recovered from 5-9 to 9-9 in the tie break.
Cuban-Polish Wilfredo León was named MVP of the match after an amazing night: he put down 38 points for Perugia, including 4 of the team’s 11 aces, while Ukrainian Oleh Plotnytskyi collected the same number of points from the service line. Luxembourger Kamil Rychlicki and Cuban Robertlandy Simón scored 20 points each for Lube, including 4 and 6 blocks respectively.

The mini tournament for fifth place in regular season of italian Superlega Credem Banca, which is worth a place in the next CEV Challenge Cup, ended today. With today’s results, the semifinals pairs have been defined.
Today, home victory for Leo Shoes Modena, who defeats Kioene Padova in four sets and thus take a ticket for the semifinal. Victory at home with the same result also for NBV Verona against Top Volley Cisterna. The winners (third in the standings) will face Milano in the semifinals, interestingly, for the eighth time this season!
The same Milano that, with the victory in straight sets on the field of Tonno Callipo Calabria Vibo Valentia, end in first place in the pool, but behind Piacenza, due to the sets quotient. The overall winners, who today defeated Ravenna in four sets, will face the fourth placed Modena.
