For the 4th year in a row, Gentofte Volley become Danish VolleyLigaen champions as they swept the series of this season’s playoff finals against Boldklubben Marienlyst.
After they won the 3rd (and decisive) game in the final series against 3rd-seed Marienlyst by a 3-1 (24:26, 25:19, 25:16, 25:22), the top-seed took the title for the 4th season in a row.
These two met in the playoff finals for the first time since 2017, when Boldklubben Marienlyst prevailed.
American Tomás Goldsmith, who spent most of his professional career as a beach volleyball player, more precisely between 2010 and 2018, was the top-scorer of the winners with 21 points, Rasmus Mikelsons set up 5 blocks, while Mads Møllgaard made 76% reception (17 digs, 1 error, 18% perfect).
With the overall victory in the 2020/21 Danish Championship, Gentofte once again cemented their dominance in the country’s volleyball in the last decade, having a total of 9 titles, and has not missed the final in the competition since 2011!
