France: Chaumont win a very balanced Game 1 of Final
1 min read
Game 1 of the final of French Ligue A was played yesterday.
It was a great home win for the fourth in regular season Chaumont (which eliminated first the titleholders Tours, and then also the absolute leaders of the regular season Montpellier, in the semifinals just three days ago), who defeated second-placed Cannes (still without middle-blocker Averill) in four sets. Nervous and very balanced game, which saw the first three sets uncertain until the end and with the minimum gap, and the hosts literally dominate the fourth and decisive set, led by a majestic Herrera, deservedly named MVP of the match with 25 points, including 3 aces and blocks, with 74% in attack. Williams top-scored the guests with 20 points (3 aces, 2 blocks and 47%).
Game 2 (and a possible Game 3) will be played on Saturday (and maybe on Sunday) in Cannes.
