Italy: final for 5th place on Sunday is Milano – Modena!

2 min read

Milano-Modena will be the final of the 5th place playoffs of the Italian Superlega Credem Banca, which is worth a place in the next edition of the CEV Challenge Cup.
In the first match of the day, Leo Shoes Modena won in straight sets on the field of the winner of the Pool Gas Sales Piacenza, with only 10 players on the scoresheet (Grozer, Polo and Russell still absent).
Modena which, played this tournament in a growth that has gradually denied the initial sensations on the field that made us think of a lack of interest in the race to participate in the 2021/22 third continental cup, were well led by the Austrian opposite Buchegger (MVP of the match) and Serbian outside hitter Petric, with 16 and 10 points respectively with an attack at 68% and 61%. On the other hand, on the other side of the net, with Piacenza struggling to finalize in attack, Antonov is the only player in double digit, with 10 points (45% in attack), while the middle-blocker Tondo put down 9, with 70% in attack and two blocks.

In the second semifinal, Allianz Powervolley beats Verona with the final score of 3-1 (25:22, 25:20, 25:20, 25:20) in 1 hour and 48 minutes of play, and flies in the final well led by their setter Sbertoli, named MVP of the match, and also author of 6 points, 4 aces and 2 attacks. The winners then take revenge for the defeat suffered against the same rivals just 7 days ago, and they do so with a choral test that leaves no way out.
Four players in double figures on the Milano field: Patry and Urnaut with 16 points, 11 for Basic and 10 for Kozamernik, while Jensen scored 20 points on the other side of the net.
The final is scheduled for Sunday 25 April at 6 pm, at the Allianz Cloud in Milano.
