Famous middle-blocker Pieter Verhees has retired at the age of 31.
The Belgian international said farewell to competing professionally after a career of 15 years to spend more time with his family.
The middle blocker played half of his career abroad, mostly in Italy, but lifted all trophies (except the Italian Cup in 2014/15 with Leo Shoes Modena) while playing in his home country: 2 Belgian Championships, 3 Belgian Cups, and 2 Belgian Super Cups, all with VC Greenyard Maaseik. This was also Verhees’ last club in the career with whom he became Belgian Championship and CEV Cup vice-champions in 2020/21. He was a long-time member of the Belgium National Team (since 2009).
