European Silver League: Denmark win 2021 edition! Hungary third

European Silver League officially ended yesterday with Final Four in Strumica, North Macedonia. At third place Hungary who defeats Croatia at a tie break full of ups and down. Partially it was 18:25, 25:18, 23:25, 25:19, 13:15.
Croatia had several opportunities, but unfortunately this was the second time during the final 4 that they lost in a full 5 sets, yesterday letting North Macedonia get ahead and win at the end.
Krisztian Padar was the absolutely top scorer of the match with 27 points, including 10 (yes, 10!) aces and 2 winning blocks. The same Hungarian player was also best attacker with 15 winning spikes. Marko Sedlacek and Filip Sestan scored 18 times on the other side of the net.

In final for Gold, Denmark defeated North Macedonia on their home court in Strumica on Sunday night to win the European Silver League and advance to next year’s golden league.
Despite the hosts looked dominant in the first set, Denmark go into overtime in set 3, finishing at 27-25, to take the lead 2-1 to win the competition in 4 sets. The team was led by Mads Kyed Jensen, who spent a year as volleyball’s tallest setter at UCLA before playing in Italy’s Verona last season, scored 32 points in the match (51% in attack, 2 aces and 2 winning blocks), while Oskar Kjerstein Madsen, who had 17 points with 2 blocks and 2 aces.
Eurovolley 2021 partecipants Nikola Gjiorgiev and Aleksandar Ljaftov top-scored North Macedonia with 14 points each.
