Tokyo2020: these are 12 Italians for Tokyo – Lanza and Nelli out

The head coach of the Italy National Team Gianlorenzo Blengini has chosen the players who will take part in the Olympic Games in Tokyo, scheduled from July 23 to August 8.

Italian expert did not send the best squad to the 2021 FIVB Volleyball Nations League in Rimini, and for the Olympic Games he crossed out four players from the group that included those guys who have prepared for the event in the Japanese capital at home and those who took part in the VNL: outside-hitter Filippo Lanza, opposite Gabriele Nelli, middle-blocker Fabio Ricci, and libero Fabio Balaso.

And so, this is the team chosen by Blengini to play in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games:

Setters: Simone Giannelli, Riccardo Sbertoli

Opposites: Luca Vettori, Ivan Zaytsev
