Italian powerhouse A.S. Volley Lube announced that Ivan Zaytsev will undergo arthroscopic surgery of his right knee next week.
On Wednesday, August 25, in the afternoon at the Villa Stuart Clinic in Rome, the athlete will be operated on by a team of Professor Pier Paolo Mariani.

Medical examinations in recent days have been decisive for the decision made in consultation with the club’s medical staff and management.
Ivan Zaytsev, captain of the Italian national team, returned to Lube after 7 years.

Ivan injury surprised us, but those are the things that happen in our world. We have a boy who will soon be more widely known, and that is Gabi Garcia. This is an opportunity to put him to the test. Zaytsev absence certainly worries us, but the club has no intention of returning to the market. There are two reasons for this: we have confidence in Ivan, and the second opposite of the team, despite being a young man who is seeking experience, gives great guarantees that he will be able to fulfill his role. Other possible solutions, which I read these hours, will be considered and evaluated by our coach Blengini later. It is not up to us to say what the best solution is, but we are confident that the group, as has happened in the past, will be able to make up for the absence of an important player for the period required for his return,” Lube CEO Beppe Cormio said.
