In the first round match of the CEV Champions League played in Estonia, Bigbank Tartu celebrated a surprising 3-0 victory (25:20, 25:22, 25:20) in the match against Lindaren Volley Amriswil from Switzerland. Albert Hurt was the top scorer with 16 points while the experienced Martti Juhkami added 15 for Bigbank Tartu. Milija Mrdak scored 13 points for the Lindaren Volley Amriswil. The rematch will take place on September 22 in Switzerland.
Alar Rikberg, head coach of Bigbank Tartu: “I am very happy with the result today and most of all with how we played. We knew Lindaren was not an easy opponent and it is a little surprising that we won 3-0. However, we had bad moments in all sets as well and there is definitely room for improvement. We played as a team and this is why we were successful today.”
