Poland: Led by Jarosz’s experience, Katowice sweep giants Resovia. Wins also for Zaksa and Suwalki

2 min read

GKS Katowice reached two out of two in the 2021/22 Polish Plusliga!
Even though, after just two matches, it is too early to make some predictions, GKS Katowice are showing aspirations to reach big results in this season. They started 2021/22 campaign with two wins in as many matches, with the second one against the league’s giants and absolute medals contestant, Asseco Resovia Rzeszów, in straight sets. Experienced opposite and former country’s national team member Jakub Jarosz was absolutely the man of the encounter with 27 points (62% in attack, 59% efficiency) on the winning side, including four aces and two winning blocks, while Bartosz Mariański had 83% reception (12 digs, 50% perfect). In fact, the performance of the two opposites was decisive, as Muzaj made just 4 points, with 29% in attack and 0% efficiency on the other side of the net. In the third set coach Giuliani fielded 3 outside-hitters, with Cebulj opposite, but it was not enough to reopen the game with the Slovenian who missed the decisive ball.

Led by Łukasz Kaczmarek, author of 15 points, and with as many as 18 players on protocol (yes, really), Grupa Azoty ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle easily defeated modest Cerrad Enea Czarni Radom on the road, by 3-0 (20:25, 16:25, 17:25).
In the evening 3-0 home win also for Slepsk Malow Suwalki, led by an excellent Boladz (MVP of the match with 18 points), over the newcomers Lublin.
