The first trophy in the 2021/22 season in the Polish club volleyball went to Jastrzębski Węgiel.
In a duel between two fierce rivals, the Polish champions Jastrzębski Węgiel defeated Grupa Azoty ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle in straight sets (25:18, 25:22, 30:28) in Lublin to win the country’s men’s Superpuchar Polski, ending rivals two-year reign over the competition.
After a first set in which ZAKSA never enters the game, Cretu’s team tries to react in the 2nd set, when they dropped the lead of 16-12 and also a chance of tying the result.
The team commanded by Gheorghe Crețu didn’t learn from these errors and allowed one more significant lead slip out of its hands, 10-15 and 17-13 in the third set. Despite an ace of Hadrava (23-22) ZAKSA manages also to conquer 2 set points (23-24 and 24-25), but the rivals come back with Boyer’s counterattack (26-25) and, on the fourth match point, closes with the ace of Gladyr: 30-28.
The award for the MVP of the game was given to Tomasz Fornal, the outside hitter of the winning side, which took the first-ever trophy in the Super Cup.
