The basic round of the Austrian Volley League reached its final phase.
The top round tickets have already been awarded to Union Raiffeisen Waldviertel, UVC Weberzeile Ried and VCA Amstetten NÖ, and the trio will face defending champions UVC Holding Graz and national cup winner SK Zadruga Aich/Dob in the second phase of the championship.
On Saturday, among these three, only Amstetten entered the field, and they defeated newcomers Hypo Tirol volleyball team by 3-0 (25:21, 31:29, 25:18) on the road, thus overcoming Ried in the charts.
The most prolific player at USI hall in Innsbruck was Amstetten’s Jonah Zelenka with 15 points, while Leander and Finn Örley scored 14 points each for the hosts.
Before the end of the this part of competition, Amstetten still have two derbies against Union Waldviertel on the program, and they will play 1/16 finals of CEV Challenge Cup next Tuesday and Wednesday in Bulgaria, against Levski Sofia.
About the other matches of day day, TJ Sokol V / Post SV Wien secured fourth place in his penultimate game with a 3-0 (25:19, 25:18, 25:23) home win against VBC TLC Weiz,
led by Clemens Ecker, author of 18 points, while the top scorer for the guests was Mark Kremer with 12.
VBK Wörther-See-Löwen Klagenfurt has already completed the basic round today, recorded the fourth win of the season on the field TSV Raiffeisen Hartberg, by beating the rivals at tie break (25:22, 21:25, 26:28, 25:22, 15:10), to secure sixth place in the charts.
