Austria: Waldviertel keep invincibility! Hypo Tirol stun Ried

Union Raiffeisen Waldviertel is official the winner of the Austrian Volley League basic round. Today they won the derby against VCA Amstetten NÖ in their home court by 3-0 (27:25, 25:23, 25:21) to stay unbeaten in competition. Top scorers of the match were Daan Streutker (23) and Marek Sulc (17), and Jakub Czyzowski (19) and Aleksandar Veselinovic (10)
for Amstetten, who will finish the first championship phase in second place, now seven points behind today’s rivals. On December 19, the two teams face each other again while, at the beginning of January, they will start the AVL top round, together with defending champions UVC Holding Graz, SK Zadruga Aich / Dob and UVC Weberezeile Ried.

UVC Ried, the team who sit at third place in the regular season charts suffered a surprising home defeat: in their last match, they lost 0:3 (23:25, 17:25, 25:27) against last-placed Hypo Tirol volleyball team. For the newcomers, it was the second win of the season.
On Sunday, the Innsbruck side will be play against TSV Raiffeisen Hartberg with the same number of points and will have the chance to surpass them in the charts. If it will be the last game in the regular season for the Styrians, Hypo Tirol still has to play another game against TJ Sokol V / Post SV Wien (4th).
