Turkish Cup: Fenerbahçe and Halkbank ko! Arkas and Spor Toto to semifinals

2 min read

Double surprise in the last 2 quarter-finals of the Turkish Cup.
An unrecognizable Fenerbahce was overwhelmed at home by Spor Toto scoring just 51 points in 3 sets, a result completely the opposite of the Efelerligi match played last December 12, in which Spor Toto scored just 55 points.
The guests were led by Sharifi (60% in attack and 3 winning blocks) and Buchegger (61% in attack and 3 winning blocks, too).
After finishing the unbeaten first leg of Efelerligo regular season, Halkbank Ankara was unexpectedly defeated 2-3 at home by Arkas Izmir, paying a bad day in attack (42% and 19% efficiency vs 51% and 35% efficiency of the opponents).
The decisive tie-break was decided in its central phase, when Halkbank collected 5 consecutive points (including 3 error in attack) from 6-4 to 6-9 on McDonnell’s turn from the service line.

Semifinals:
• Ziraat Bankkart Ankara – Arkas Spor Izmir
• Galatasaray HDI Sigorta Istanbul – Spor Toto Ankara
