Germany: two new big names in Bundesliga

1 min read

Energiequelle Netzhoppers KW-Bestensee gained valuable reinforcement for the continuation of the season in the German Bundesliga.
The Germany National Team member Denys Kaliberda, who was without a club since last summerโ€™s CEV European Championship, has signed with the club competing for the classification between 5-8 place, the stage thatโ€™s played prior to the playoffs.
The 31-year-old outside hitter wanted to spend more time with his family after the end of the last EuroVolley, the same competition in which he was awarded Best Outside Hitter in 2017.
Last season, he wore the jersey of the Bundesliga titleholders Berlin Recycling Volleys.

The other new come from the record titleholders in Bundesliga VfB Friedrichshafen, who have signed the new libero, Nikola Pekoviฤ‡.
The Serbia National Team libero came from a club in his home country, Ribnica Kraljevo, with which he had the so-called open contract, and committed to the Bundesliga record titleholders until the end of the season.
The decision of Friedrichshafen to hire Pekoviฤ‡ was made after the hip injury of Canadian libero Blair Bann, who will undergo a surgery and will be sidelined for several months.
The 31-year-old Pekoviฤ‡ was a part of the Serbian squad that became the European champion in 2019.
