3 min read

In recovery match of Italian Superlega CredemBanca Round 24 or, if you prefer, Round 11 of second Leg, super favorite Leo Shoes PerkinElmer Modena win at tie break on the field of Allianz Milano after more than two hours of play.

About the match itself, the hosts started the game in a perfect way, with two aces in a row for Patry and an increasing advantage with a block from captain Piano over Nimir and another ace from Patry (14-10) until a conspicuous 20-13. A that point Modena reacts, until a dangerous 22-21.
Luckily for the home side, they managed to close at 25-21.

Second set very balanced start until an attack from Nimir that worth the 10-12, and Ngapeth signs the 12-16. Despite a time out called by coach Piazza, nothing to do for the hosts, as Modena reached a great +6 (15-21). Then a great Patry from the service line and Milano can recover until 19-21, but it’s too late and Modena close 21-25.

In third set Modena escape again with a couple of winning blocks, worthing the 12-16 again. And then Patry again shortens the distance until the 18-19, forcing Andrea Giani to ask for a time out. And in fact, thanks to a great Leal from the service line, Modena escape again until 18-23, while an error from Maiocchi give the set to the guests, 21-25.

Milano don’t give up and, in a very balanced fourth set, take the lead 9-7. Despite Milano reach the 20-17, a great Modena leveled the score again 23-23 with an ace from Sala, and the final is on fire, until the decisive 27-25 for the hosts.
At this point Modena want to win the game: 3-8, and all attempts for Milano are basically useless. An error from the service line by Ishikawa worths the final 10-15.

Nimir (23 points, 50% in attack and 1 block) and Ngapeth (20 points, 3 blocks and 55% in attack) were the most prolific players among the winners, while Patry scored 20 points for the hosts, with 40% in attack, 5 aces and 3 of Milano’s 14 winning blocks.
