France: Cannes and Plessis Robinson take first step towards playoffs! Nice and Paris defeated in first leg of Play-Ins

First Leg of Play-Ins has been played today with both Coupe de France Finalists, who will play at Paris’ Adidas Arena on Saturday, March 28, were knocked out!
After controlling the game, earning an early lead already even at the very beginning of the match, No.9 in regular season Cannes won a dramatic first set over No.8 Nice in front of their home fans and then literally destroyed the rivals, who struggled a lot in attack and reception, closing the game with a clean 3-0 (28:26, 25:20, 25:15).
Captain Omar Biglino earned MVP honors with 11 points to his name through 64% in attack (7/11), 2 aces and 2 blocks, well supported by Joao Noleto who added 15 including 2 aces and 2 blocks too, and Xander Ketrzynski, who left the court also with 11.
On the other side of the net, for a Nice who suffered the heavy absence of opposite Dawid Dulski, great protagonist of the last win over Chaumont on Saturday and of the entire season, on the bench, Shay Liberman (fielded as opposite in third set) and Merrick McHenry scored 11 points each.
Meanwhile, after losing first set, No.7 in regular season Plessis Robinson earned a 1-3 (26:24, 21:25, 25:27, 21:25) great victory on the field of Paris, earning a strong home advantage on second leg.
In the other derby of the day, Nathan Canovas earned MVP honors with 19 points to his name through 65% in attack and 2 blocks, closely followed by Jérémie Mukelenge (67% in attack and 2 blocks too). Double digit also for Brett Wildman and Raphaël Pascal, who added 12 and 10, respectively.
Vuk Kulpinac top-scored Paris with 19 points.
Both second legs, with golden sets if necessary, are scheduled on Tuesday at Nice and Plessis Robinson, with Cannes and Plessis who needed two sets to claim their ticket to playoffs.
