2 min read

Four matches of Austrian Volley League were played today.

About playoffs for the title, Union Raiffeisen Waldviertel won Semifinal Game 1 against UVC Holding Graz in five sets by beating the defending champions in their Stadthalle Zwettl 3-2 (23:25, 25:15, 25:23, 23:25, 15:11). MVP and top scorer of the match was Daulton Sinoski, with 26 points.

The second semi-final match between SK Zadruga Aich/Dob and a decimated VCA Amstetten NÖ due injuries has been postponed.

In Quarterfinal playoffs for 5th/8th place, UVC Weberzeile Ried made a big step towards fifth place, as they defeated VBC TLC Weiz in their Raiffeisen Volleydome 3-0 (25:17, 25:21, 25:15). Ried captain and top attacker Tomek Rutecki made back on the court after a three-month injury break, but today head coach Dominik Kefer was absent and replaced by Joachim Hackl. Four players had to pass for the Styrians. The rivals, on the other hand, were heavily penalized by absences and played without Captain Sebastian Schweighofer, at home, and Leo Schober and Jakob Grasser injured.
The winner of this playoff duel will face VBK Wörther-See-Löwen Klagenfurt and TJ Sokol V/Post SV Wien, and Game 1 between these two sides has been postponed.
