Poland: Katowice (to playoffs!) and Stal Nysa win at tie break advances of Round 26

2 min read

First two matches of Plusliga Round 26, last of regular season (despite there are still two matches to play, Trefl Gdansk against leaders Jastrzebski Węgiel, on April 9, and ZAKSA, on April 11).

In the afternoon GKS Katowice, led by setter MVP Ma’a, win at tie break (21:25, 27:25, 18:25, 25:21, 17:19) on the field of Slepsk Malow Suwalki, with a comeback from 13-11 and 14-13 in fifth set.
Very good performance of Jarosz, who ended the game with 31 points, 65% in attack and 52% efficiency.
This result is worth the surpass in the standings at the expenses of Projekt Warszawa who, in the evening, and despite finally in full force, has been defeated at home from Stal Nysa 2-3 (20:25, 20:25, 25:23, 25:20, 12:15), after a comeback from 0-2 and 2-8, and even 18-20 in third set.
This victory, though, closed by three aces in a row from Ben Tara and an error from Szalpuk, who gave the 11-13, was basically useless, as Stal Nysa would need three points to leave last place in the standings, and they are now forced to perform play out to keep the top division. The tesm from Polish capital, on the other hand, slipped to eight place and now they will wait for next match of Gdansk to know if they will play playoffs…or not.
