Turkish Cup: Final is Arkas – Galatasaray

Both semifinals of 2021/22 Turkish Cup were played today.

In first one, despite a super performance of Camejo (18 points, 71% in attack and 58% efficiency), and recover of bomber Ter Maat (17 points for him at the end of the match), Ziraat Bankkart Ankara has been defeated 1-3 (21:25, 28:26, 24:26, 18:25) by Arkas Izmir, led by young outside hitter Mirza Lagumdzija, author of 23 points
(78% in attack, 21/27 with 0 errore and 0 blocked, and 2 winning blocks). Burutay Subaşı served 4 aces.

Arkas will face Galatasaray HI Sigorta Istanbul, who defeated Spor Toto Ankara at tie break (28:30, 25:23, 25:20, 11:25, 15:10) in second semifinal.
In first set the Ankara side made a great comeback from 23-21, to win 28-30 after cancelling 5 set points. Spor Toto led also in second set 3-7, but suffered a comeback until the heavy 16-12, to collapse only 25-23 at fourth set ball.
In third set is Galatasaray to led the game from start to the decisive 25-20, but in fourth set the rivals reacted, with even a 5-12 led, and a clear 11-25.
To make the difference in tie break, two counterattacks from Torres, the one of 2-0 and 5-2, and 3 winning blocks by Ulu over Buchegger (9-5 and 10-7) and Sharifi (12-8). The set ended 15-10, with an error by Sharifi from the service line.
The winners were led by Slovakian-Russian Lukáš Diviš (23 points) and Doğukan Ulu (4 blocks).
