Turkey: Ziraat defeat Halkbank in Final Game 1!

Both Game 1 of Final were played today.

In derby for the titlt, No.3 Ziraat Bankkart defeated regular season winners Halkbank Ankara by 1-3 (20:25, 25:21, 26:28, 23:25) and took the lead in the series of the 2021/22 AXA Sigorta Efeler Ligi playoff final series.
The reigning champions started the clash on the right foot, but thanks to a good defense, Halkbank leveled at 1-1 in sets. The third set turned out to be crucial as Ziraat prevailed in overtime and after 46 minutes of a play! A videocheck give to Ziraat the 23-24, but Halkbank react with a block from Keskin over Atanasov, 26-25, but then collapse with an error from Hernandez in attack, 26-27, and a counterattack from Atanasov, 26-28.
Even though it can’t be said looking at the score but Ziraat were in full control of the fourth set, closing the match in their favor. Decisive the resounding block from Eksi over the counterattack of Gulmezoglu, which is worth the 23-24, and the counterattack from Ter Maat.
Nothing to do for Halkbank, despite lot of changes (three outside-hitters, two setters and 2 opposites).

The Dutch Wouter Ter Maat highlighted the winning side with 25 points (59% in attack, 44% efficiency, 2 blocks and 3 aces), while Camejo also contributed with 16 points, 52% and 40% efficiency in attack, 2 blocks and 1 ace), and Faik Samet Güneş made 5 blocks.
On the other side of the net, Cuban Fernando Hernández scored 17 points, including 4 aces.
The second match of the best-of-5 series will be played on Monday, May 2, again at the home ground of Halkbank.
